WE ARE MORE THAN OUR UTERUSES

A documentary about women and the misconceptions at the center of our reproductive lives.

A woman's worth and value are the totality of who she is. We are more than our bodies. We are more than our uteruses. We are more than our age or beauty. We know who we are. If you listen, we'll tell you our truths.

SYNOPSIS

MISS Conception deconstructs, rebuilds, and expands upon the narrow vision of what we’ve been told is an ideal woman. It shatters the narrative prison of the past, which has inextricably tied a woman's value to where she falls in the spectrum and timeline of motherhood, that we are classified by the answer to the question, “Do you have children?”

There is and always has been more to a woman’s story. It’s not as simple as the picture that has been painted; our desires are not one note, our lives are not one-dimensional, We don’t all want the same things and our value does not come solely from our wombs.

However, we have judged and defined women based on this strict set of standards for as long as we have had a word for “woman.” This error in thinking has led to nothing but negative results, making women inevitably fell less than when they don’t fit the mold. It’s also shall we say, a very boring story that we’re all tired of hearing! it’s time we correct this mistake in understanding and bring some vibrancy and truth to the stage.

Women today have so many more options and choices than we ever have before, AND WE ARE NOW ABLE TO EXPRESS OUR INNERMOST THOUGHTS, IDEAS, DESIRES, AND EMOTIONS THAT DON’T FIT THE NORMAL NARRATIVE, DON’T CHECK THE BOX, AND don’t line up with the conventional timeline or picture for women. The stories and lives of women are much bigger and broader than what we have allowed them to be. the truth is that Women do not universally fit into an “ideal woman” box because, simply put, this box is an illusion that has never existed.

So, how do we do it? pretty simple, We talk to women and ask them to share their stories. We talk to women who don’t want children, those who are struggling with infertility, those WHO are freezing their eggs, those who have had a miscarriage, those WHO have had an abortion, those WHO are trying to adopt, those WHO placed their baby for adoption, those who were a surrogate, those who used a surrogate AND the list goes on.

With each woman’s unique story, we take a step towards breaking down the perceptions of the past, the narrative prison we’ve been sentenced to, and show a more truthful and beautiful picture of what the value of a woman is.
